~About Star Pork~.
This delicious pork is raised in Kihokucho, Kanoya City, Kagoshima Prefecture, and meets strict standards.
For more than 20 years, they have been working with the producers and the people who raise the pigs to compare tastes, and through trial and error, they have blended fertilizers with enzymes made from a variety of bacteria, including natto and lactic acid bacteria, and they also include sweet potatoes, like Kurobuta pigs.
The characteristic of Star Pork is the white (fatty) part, which is important for how much sweetness can be put on it, and it has a reputation for not having much acridity when used for shabu-shabu. It is considered to have a very good balance with the lean part due to its high quality fatty meat that is not too tough.
The only local restaurant that serves it is Tokiwa Shokudo (Tokiwa Restaurant) in Terukita Town. It is said to be the only pork available locally at Tokiwa Shokudo in Kihokucho.
